The way I found out that I was diabetic was that I was loosing serious weight and I was really thirsty so my mom said if I got down to 89 I had to go to the hospital. So when I got there they said that I was dehydrated and my blood sugar was over 1100. I finally got back up to my weight of 102 but anytime my bs is up I lose like 2-3 pounds a day. I don't want to lose weight but I can't gain either.. Does anyone else have this problem??

If your blood sugar is up and you're losing weight without trying, it means your body is using your fat for energy in excess. This is a dangerous situation that can put you into diabetic ketoacidosis, which can be fatal. You should be checking your ketone levels when your bs is high, and call your dr if the results show large ketone amounts. Are your bs levels normally under control? If not, please seek the advice of your doctor on how to make adjustments to your insulin dosage. Hope this helps!

I just seen her three days ago and were raising my 24 insulin up every 3-4 days until my fasting bs is down to 100-120. This morning it was 304 so it's starting to go down. Tomorrow will be the next day to raise my 24 hour insulin again another 2 units. Hopefully it keeps going down. My weight is right now staying at 100 so hopefully with us changing my amount of one of my insulin a I might be able to start gaining weight. Thanks
