Hello all, please bear with me, I'm trying to reach out to a new online community cuz I haven't been managing my type 1 diabetes well…
I'm under crazy stress most of the time, no energy to exercise, been in hospital every year for high BS for past 3 years…on pump but still not in consistent control. I turn 50 at end of this month and I need a new start! I appreciate any genuine listeners and supporters:0)

Hello, I am certainly willing to listen and support you in any way I can. I do feel I have to let you know I am not diabetic myself, but I come from a long line of T2 and have a daughter who is T1, so I am touched daily by this.

Thanks so much type1lou and titan12! I already feel a little better hearing from folks who have been in similar circumstances:0) Eliminating or reducing carbs is my biggest battle. I do we'll for awhile but then revert back. My last A1c was 9+ I have to get it down!
MD just adjusted my basal rates and right now has me trying to eat a set amt of carbs and dose set amt of insulin for each meal plus correction bolus…it helps (as long as I keep w/in the recommended amts)…

I am 64 and really didn't start to manage my diabetes well until I was in my 50's.
After reading Dr Richard Bernstein's book "Diabetes Solution", he convinced me that by severely cutting down on the carbs I was eating was the way to go. I am 5'3" tall and weigh 120 lbs. I limit myself to 120 total grams of carb per day. My last A1c in May was 6.7. My goal is to get it back into the low 6's. I started using a pump only 2 years ago but was diagnosed a Type 1 at age 27. Stress will certainly have an impact on blood sugars. Hopefully, you'll be able to vent here, ask questions and acquire some tips that will help you to better manage. It's a great forum, chock full of ideas. Welcome!

Hi my name is Roger . I have been in that same position it can be very frustrating I know but when your down you have to make your self do it and pray for strength from God he will help you the biggest thing for me was stay away from anything white like breads , pasta , rice , potatoes and most if get plenty of water it's very important stay away from cokes that helped me a lot
