I'm a type ll diabetic, and I'm always hungry. I've tried planning my meals but it makes no difference. Regardless of how healthy I eat, I continue to be hungry and graze. Any suggestions?

I use to be that way years ago, since we have this disease we have to reprogram our thinking processes. I learned to fix and eat small meals that totaled no more than 300 calories per meal. I had to quit all white carbs in any form from potatoes, white rice, white bread. You'll find that a small sweet potato will serve as a meal in itself. I sprinkle on cinnamon only and eat as my breakfast or a light lunch…I still fight my weight battles, but I am better than before and best of all my A1C last month was 6.5…Stick with this site and NEVER give up Kats49

When were you diagnosed? How many meals a day do you eat? It's okay to graze as long as you choose healthy things. What do you eat for breakfast?

I do pretty good all day. I make sure I eat a snack between meals, like a carb smart yogurt or atkins bar. My problem is late night snacking. If I don't have low carb snacks, I end up eating things I shouldn't.

Eat a handful or two of dry roasted peanuts out of a jar when you get hungry. Curbs your appetite and the protein is good for you. Also keeps your Glucose levels down. Has worked great for me. :)

Fiber and protein curb your appetite between meals. If I eat oatmeal, I usually don't get hungry until lunch time, and for me that's 4 hours after breakfast.

I drink lots of water and I have a couple of snacks during the day. But I make sure they are healthy: low carb and higher protein. A Greek yogurt or a cheese stick with a few crackers, etc. this usually helps.

Talk to your doctor about meds to curb your appetite … Drink lots of water ( makes you feel full ) . Hypnosis ??? Over eaters anonymous has a 5 step program that they based off of AA … Many options out there , but like I first suggested talk to your doctor …
