If you can't eat call your doc. Your body needs carbs to function. Ask the doc or nurse if you will need to drink liquids with sugar. Continue to drink water to stay hydrated.

What i mean is that if i bolus. And forget to eat, possibility of going low is there because i have the insulin active but no food to back it up. I use a fast acting insulin. So it is extremely important to eat soon after administering the bolus.

If you are not going to eat do not take the shot. I have bolused and gotten distracted from eating right away and it is never good. I was told to eat within 5-10 minutes of the bolus or possibly go low. It's an everyday learning process.

Insulin can be tricky. If you are suffering from an infection, you may actually require more insulin than when you are well, even if you are eating less or the same amount that you usually eat. If your stomach is upset, does that mean you are vomiting or have diarrhea? This may also be a factor in determining the correct response to your question since you may be retaining less carbs in your system. I would encourage you to raise this issue with your doctor who will be able to better advise you given your specific circumstances.

The shot you take @ meal time is a bolus to cover the carbs you eat @ that meal . If you are eating @ your normal time do not take that shot , when you do decide to eat go ahead and take that shot … Now to be sure about this , ask your doctor but I'm pretty sure he/she will agree with what I said . I am no doctor but from what I know and from what you said I gave you my opinion … I still think you should ask your doctor … Study up on diabetes … I am … I think diabetics should learn all they can about diabetes … Sadly so many don't take the the time to educate themselves …
