I have a question about tanning for diabetics. I am going to the beach in a couple of weeks and do not want to be too pale when I get there. Is it safe for diabetics to go to a tanning bed?

It's proven that tanning in tanning beds is detrimental to your health … There will come a time when they are heavily regulated or even shut down …

From my understanding it depends on “how diabetic” you are and what medications you’re taking. When I was first diagnosed (T2), on blood pressure meds and Met it was a no go. That first year I burned very easily (not from the tanning bed but from the following sun exposure), and my levels were high from the stress. If you have even the slightest bit of neuropathy, burning can be an issue because you won’t feel it as readily. Now that I’m under good control and off meds, it’s not a problem. Check your meds (not just the labels) first and maybe check your levels before and after. Judging by your profile info, you should be fine. Good attitude by the way and welcome to the family!
