Hi, I have the same problem. the numbing and the pain in my feet drive me crazy. I have several other medical issues that prevent me from walking as i know i should and the pain just gets worse everyday. I hope you and your dad find something that will help because i know i have had suicide cross my mind on several occasions and I dont like that at all. Because of my other issues I take pain medications and even they dont help the pain in my feet.

I had some neuropathy in my foot when I was first diagnosed. I found keeping my BGs down in the normal range, beginning to exercise, taking 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid twice a day, and working to strengthen my cardiovascular system helped. It may well be neuropathy, but increased blood flow into the feet still improves the condition

I have diabetic nerve pain for over 9year. I take Lyrica n Tramadols or norcos for but the main thing that helps me is keeping my sugars control n walking. Where is ur dads levels at???

I understand, needs to get out of frame of mind, it will help. I was depressed and anxiety. I thought medication would help, but it's really how you think about your situation. With me, God help me through it, and continues to. What make him happy? Positive? It's a start, is he able to do any walking? Exercise helps, doesn't have to be strenuous. A walk in the park or even a stroll. I pray this helps. Also a healthy meal plan. Well, this is what helping now.

Your father may need to speak to a neurologist about the nerve damage to his feet.

Have you spoken to a doctor about your anxiety and depression?
