I ran a series of tests and found that the FreeStyle Lite test strips read about 9-10 mg/dl lower than the FreeStyle Classic test strips in the OmniPod UST400 PDM (not FDA cleared for the Lite strips). Which is correct is unknown. The range or error is about 13%. The FDA requires a range of plus or minus 20%. I got similar results using the FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite test strips in FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite meters respectively.

What is your experience?

I used to use the freestyle test strips until a friend recommended to try out the freestyle lite glucose test strips. So I purchased a brand new freestyle lite Meter and the test strips from https://www.yourdiabeticsupplier.com/products.... Prices have definitely been rising in the past 3 years but luckily this company has the best prices. They offer the freestyle lite test strips for $47 which seems high but is $10-$20 cheaper than any other diabetic supply store. I'm grateful for finding them and have never had any problems with the strips.

I ran a test between the Freestyle Lite and the Insulinx. I received very similar results between the two strips a minor variance maybe a difference of 5 mg/dl per strip not including outliers . 1 thing I have noticed lately though is the Lite's are giving me more fails low readings. About every 3 test I am getting a low reading which is very irritating (to note this has happened in two different bottles). I am lucky enough to have a dexcom so I can tell when the results are off allowing me to determine if its the dexcom or the strip and after repeat sticks its always been a bad Lite test strip. After speaking to Abbott they said the newer tests strips are unofficially about the same. That's my experience.

I thinking most of us don't have extra $$$ to running test on different test strips … Been diabetic for @ least 11 years and been around diabetes most of my life but never thought to run test on different test strips … I use Bayer Contour Next Strips because meter I use requires those strips …
