This may or may not be a prank. I've been on insulin since 2006, and although I was prescribed the pen to use, I was just shown how the pen dialed the dosage, and not how to inject it, nor that I should switch sides and spots. As for calculating carb counts I still mess up.

Folks, after thinking about it, I think this post is a prank. It is private and anonymous. Also, what doctor or nurse practitioner would prescribe insulin and not coach a patient how to use it?

What were you diagnosed with type 1 or type 2.? In either case, if insulin was prescribed, your doctor or nurse practitioner must coach you how to use it. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO DO ON YOUR OWN BECAUSE IT COULD BE FATAL!

As a nurse, I can say that you and your doctor have to work together on that one. There are different types of insulin, so every person has an individual plan. It is also something that takes time and practice to learn your patterns and how your body reacts to your dosing.

If you take insulin and then find your sugar count getting higher, are you suppose to add more insulin until it goes to "normal"?
