I am having trouble loosing weight, I walk more, I do a lot of out door activities with my children at school. I am also eating yogurt, more vegetables, smoothies, less fried foods. But in doing this I have a tendency to eat less. I can eat yogurt or drink a smoothie and don't have an appetite for the rest of the day or two sometimes.I can eat breakfast and not want anything else for the rest of the day. Sometime when I'm tired or upset all I want to eat is junk. Can somebody help me please. It's like I'm getting bigger and I don't like the way I feel.

The only yogurt I buy is Kroeger carbmaster…only 4 carbs. It may not be as creamy and sweet as dannon, but its a lot lower in carbs. My smoothie recipe…one of those yogurts, some heavy cream and frozen berries. They are low in carbs and a real treat to me!

You can have smooties if you make them yourself and control what you put in them. Buying them from stores and fast food places and smoothie stands is the problem.

The smoothie stands at the Flea Market where I use to vend had two stands geared to smoothies in every flavor you can imagine. They were made with Smoothie Jelly. It looks like jelly and the carbs in one smoothie is 69 grams. They use a quarter to half cup of the jelly depending on the size, and ice. The Jelly is mostly made of High Fructose Corn Syrup, and syrups of the fruit flavors. I got one a year before I was diagnosed and had a sugar high for 4 hours. You can make one with lowfat yogurt and berries and come up with less carbs.

Cutting back on carbs has made all of the difference for me! I eat more eggs, reduced fat cheese, lean meat, and veggies. I've cut back on the sugary smoothies and other carbs and I feel better and have finally started to see weight loss! Try to eat fewer processed things and more whole foods. A diabetic nutritionist can also really help you figure out what foods are good and good for your diabetes and weight loss. Don't be discouraged, you can do it!

I did the same thing Katie Beth. I still consume too many carbs, but I do eat more eggs, reduced fat cheese and veggies for sure.

Not eating properly and skipping meals isn't healthy for diabetics. To lose weight you have to treat it as a task you want to be successful at completing. You have to eat proper foods to lose weight. Smoothies are not food. If you are buying those from McDonald's, Royal Farms or other places, they are very high in calories and carbs. Your body is feeding itself off the sugar in the smoothie. Junk foods are comfort foods that help you feel better but many have no nutritional value. My junk food is now the Fiber One brownies which have 18 carbs and 90 calories. It curbs my junk food attacks for a few days. I use yogurt as a snack and never to replace a meal. I stay away from smoothies. Junk foods tend to have crunchiness we want and sugar. Try raw veggies and a low carb low cal dip as junk food or a piece of fruit.

If you have not done so, talk to a nutritionist who will help you develop a meal plan that you can stick to. My doctor told me how many calories per day and how many carbs per meal. I have lost almost 90lbs. This is attributed to losing and gaining. When I gain I change my food plan and calorie intake. Even though I can have 1200 calories per day, I usually eat 1000 but I do eat 3 meals and a snack every day. It takes hard work with perseverance and determination to lose weight. Good luck
