Recently, my Hubby observed a sleeping or unconscious person on the sidewalk. He tried to wake him up, When he could not, he called 911. Upon arrival the responding firemen took his Blood Pressure (BP) and Blood Glucose (BG). Then they proceeded with other tests. As it turned out the man was intoxicated. There have been many discussions over the years here, and also in the press, about people with diabetes being treated like drunks when they were having an extreme high or low. It was encouraging to learn a local department has this policy, so they can know if the person is having BG issues. Makes me a little prouder of the Aurora, CO Fire Department.
