I've been pregnant 3 x's in the past 6 yrs and have miscarried all of them. I'm pregnant yet again and my new endocrinologist told me to Not stop taking Metformin because no studies have been done on whether it causes any harm to the baby. She said it depends on the dr's feelings if I keep taking it or not. In the past every doctor has immediately taken me off of it & put me on insulin only. I'm currently taking Metformin, Novolog & Levemir, along w/ Prenatal vitamins. She said when I go in to see my baby doc (may 6th) to ask her if I should be taking the Metformin or not? What are y'all's thoughts on this?

i miscarried every time I tried to get pregnant also. It was my diabetes. I was unable to stabilize my BG. I was taking short acting, and long acting insulin at the time. I don't remember what the name of the insulin. But done think it had to do with the medication. But every time I was pregnant, it stressed my body, my BG was extremely low to extremely high. Never stable. The longest I've kept one of my baby was 8 weeks. I only tried 3 times, too emotional, I was unable to handle the miscarriages. I stopped trying after the 3rd one. Let your OBGYN talk to your endocrinologist to discuss your medication options, because of your issue of miscarriages, and medications
