Hi Everyone,. I hope you are all well. I have been preparing myself for lap band surgery only to be told this morning that the government had run out of funding for public lap banding procedures. I am so upset about this, so now it looks like I have to pay for it now which is costing me $11,300au dollars. My endo is working very hard to press my issue, that I should not have to pay for it, because it is a medical reason that I need surgery, and the public system is letting me down. Anyway thats enough whinging from me talk to you all soon

I am so sorry about this news. I hope it changes to a more favorable situation for you. Who knew that surgery was so expensive. How does Australian dollars compare to American dollars?

Aw, Relly, what a disappointment. You've worked so hard to get this far!!! Sure hope the payment issue is worked out in your favor and you can move forward with the surgery soon.

Well I hope that changes and quick. I know sort of how you feel. I’ve already paid my portion for an anesthesiologist and hospital stay for a back surgery that the insurance company decided not to approve. Had my overnight bag packed and everything. Insurance agreed it was medically necessary, just not the way the surgeon was going to do it. Don’t know if you have a similar peer review system by you, but that’s what it took for me – the surgeon pleading his case. Now I just have to get back on the schedule. Still not sure what it’s going to cost me in the end.

Hi rellypoo that sucks for the lap band now just my two cents but I was considering the lap band until I started to ask people who has had it most of them had it taken out because they couldn't eat at all the saline was too much and they couldn't keep anything down :-(( which is bad for us in case of low sugar I ended up getting the gastric sleeveing done and I've lost 30 lbs since January I wanted to keep my stomach in the equastion somewhere ;-)) since the surgery I've cut back on half of the insulin that I used to take and am on no more pills
