Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been posting your thoughts and struggles on this forum. I was diagnosed with Type 2 on January 14th of this year. My A1C was 10.8. The scary thing is that I had no idea that I had diabetes…I thought I had been struggling with the flu, etc.

I just had my three month check-up and my A1C has dropped to 6.9 and I know that a huge part of it was all of the advice and knowledge I reamed from this forum.

It has been a tough three months…I went from anger at myself to a pity party of "why me" to finally accepting that I was the only person who could take control of this and win…I am just that stubborn. Finding Diabetic Connect helped to save my life as did all of you!

Changing my diet and of course, medication all helped in turning my health around. I know I will always be a diabetic…I have finally accepted this but there is also no reason why I can't live a healthy and happy life doing all of the things that I love to do.

So from me to you…thank you so much! Keep fighting the fight.

I sometimes think these kind of posts are more helpful than the quasi-medical information many of us share. It shows, in real time, the various and numerous stages that many of us go through to manage this condition.

You frequently read posts from newly-diagnosed people and they are understandably shocked, scared, angry and the same feelings that you describe. I hope your post helps others who at time feel alienated by a life-changing health condition.

I'm glad you're doing well.

I cannot add anything more than what James just added. Yes, you are in control & you're winning. Stay that way and you'll have victory.
