just been recently diagnosed with charcot foot i am in the mid stages of it was told i could lose my foot have to stay off it have been out of work since end of march i am going crazy at home i feel like a shut in i have to stay off it till the fracture heals which could be 6 - 8 weeks and most of my bone is gone in my foot feeling very depressed right now

just got my brace over the weekend hard plastic reminds me of armor like the soldiers have i have to get used to it cutting into skin at the knee have to see if i can get some padding for it metanax pills are helping with the nerve damage i can feel more in my feet more (can feel more pain, don't know if that is a good thing lol )

i am now trying metanax i got it from my dr it is a rx but it is a vitamin supposed to help with nerve damage restore the dead nerves bring nutritent to them. I just started it,. I will let you know if it works. I am waiting for the brace for my foot hopefully it will help relieve some of the pain. I can't walk too much I have to stay off it.

Hang in there, it does get better. Well, relatively speaking that is! I was diagnosed two years ago. have been in a walking cast three times since. Please do not despair if it takes longer to heal than you might expect…you know, diabetes and healing. BUT, if you do let it heal completely, you should be walking around again without pain, albeit differently. I do walk on the side of my foot now, and I don't know how quickly the condition might progress, but for the time being I am pain free, unbroken, and hey…I'm walking! Take it a day at a time, I have found that half the battle is in my head!
