The American Association of Diabetic Educators (AADE) is recommending to use infusion sets for not longer than 48 hours because there a significant degradation of absorption after 48 hours.

I go 3-4 days. There have been occasions where I've felt like the absorption hasn't been great after the third day or so, but it's been inconsistent. I've never experienced an occlusion that alerted the pump, so I usually rule that out. If I suspect the absorption at the site is poor, I just change it and start with a new set & reservoir.

I have mine in for 3 to 4 days. I've not yet ever seen a decline in the absorption. What ever I bus for works. My basal rate always stays consistent.

Have your doctor contact your insurance carrier to tell them that changing your infusion sets after 48 hours is a medical necessity. Insurance companies try to get away with whatever they can.

So if you are right and the various pump makers are giving us the wrong info , is there gonna be a class action law suit ??? Medical necessity to change every 48 hours … Sorry but many doctors don't agree with you doctor John … I don't think the makers of my pump would give me false info . You are doctor awesome share your opinion but practice medicine else where … Not on this site … I'll go with Medtronics pump instructions before I go with yours … My doctor is also very involved with my pump therapy and got me doing the 3 day change …

You really aggravate me. It is not my recommendations. It is the recommendation of the AADE. I will learn to not share info in the future.
