Hey, this is geared towards any women on here with type 1.. I've had type 1 since I was 8… I am 23 now, it hasn't always been easy for me, but I try. I plan on having children someday and am curious if there's any women on here who have type 1 & have had kids…?? Good, bad, hard things about pregnancy and type 1.

I'm type 1 and 24 years old and 5 1/2 months pregnant with my first child. I had a hard time conceiving when my a1c was 10-11% but in less than a years time I brought it down to 8% when I unexpectedly got pregnant and having been on insulin pump therapy now for 11/2 months I have brought it down to 6.7%. I test sugars 8-10x a day and I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks, if I skip any I have a low. First trimester was full of experiencing numerous lows. Having a great team of specialists to work with your OB is really crucial as well as managing your own meals and sugars rigidly. I find yoga helps a lot and juicing organic veggies are a great way to get nutrients to u & baby

Thanks for getting back with this!! My sugars have been all over the place for years so I'm always concerned about this topic.. I am beginning to train for a half marathon and doing my best with keeping better control of my sugars!!

I was on micronor birth control for a couple years! I believe type ones are supposed to stay away from estrogen, so my bc was progesterone only. Didnt seem to do anything to my blood sugars!

Hello ladies. I've been type 1 for six years and have two sons. I three year old and a one and half year old. It was a lot of work keeping my sugar levels in check for the nine months, many many doctor apts as well but in the end I had no complications and had a natural birth. I was induced a week early with both but everything went smoothly. I would recommend not getting pregnant until you are in tight control, having high numbers while pregnant can be very harmful to the baby.
