Go online to one touch and they will " see if you qualify " to get one for free but everyone does cause they want you to use their testing strips and sometimes they have different colors to choose from

You might want to consider subscribing to one of the Diabetes magazines. They are chock full of good info and many times have offers of free meters or even insulin. I used to subscribe to the ADA's "Diabetes Forecast" and that's how I went from syringes to insulin pens when NovoNordisk had an ad offering a free box of pens (with RX). You may also be able to visit them on-line where I'm sure they will also show any offers.

Talk to your doctor and let them know that you need a meter. You will need a prescription for strips. Good luck to you.

They are not a good diabetes doctor if they send you home without a tester and strips ! So make sure when you see your doctor you don't leave without that lol that's my lifeline I can't imagine not having it with me always. I have one by my bed at all times, in my vehicle, in my purse, at my parents house … I have been type 1 for 20 years now so I have quite a collection of testers lol best of luck to you !! I recommend if your type 1 to test 4-6 times a day

Call your doctor. They should have free ones at there office and they will give you a script for more test strips as I think the meters usually only come with a sample set of maybe 10. You shouldn't have a problem getting a meter free cause its the test strips that the company make the money off of.

You can get them free from alot of the diabetic sites, and if you see an endocronologist, you should have gotten one for free. However, be careful. Because the test strips can cost up to $60 for 50. I use that many in one week. I recently changed to the Walmart Reli On, because the strips are $9 for 50. My insurance would pay for only about 25 a month. I think the tester itself was about $20.00.
