Starting right now I'm going to stay on my food plan and I am going to exercise for 30 min. for 5 days. I would like to reward myself with something each week so I asked my husband if he would bring me a present under 5.00 and he thought that was a great idea. Each night I will let all of you know how I'm doing. I would be more than happy if any of you would like to join me!!! I will continue on my challenge as long as I can. Wish me luck! Barbara

I was looking at the most accessible topics. I am not an insulin dependent, but I seem to be more struggling with the diet thing. I am better at the exercise, and could be even better. I have an issue that I live with extra family members. I found it easy starting out. I changed the calories, the carbs, the sugars, the starches, and the amount. I bought a treadmill (Nebraska is too cold for me anymore to go walking in winter).

I find myself doing ok when I am at work because I actually don't eat what they are eating. I work at an addiction residential program, so most meals are high carb, calorie, and starch. I tend to eat salads. I am finding it harder to follow the diet right now, and I don't know why. I DO NOT have a food plan or a meal plan. I tend to wait until later on to figure out what I want for supper. I could use some more suggestions or ideas to resist my unhealthy favorites.

My husband bought me the best 5.00 gift ever. A 5.00 scratch off lottery ticket and I won 20.00. I'm so excited!! I'm still on track. Riding my bike for an hour now. Getting up with fantastic fasting bloodsugar.

this is another Barb! I was diagnosed last month with type 2. I am learning as I go. I like the idea of a challenge to motivate me to walk. I live in a very rural area and it's hard for me to exercise because of my health. A-fib heart, bad knees and hips, obesity. I'm glad I found this site!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. I've had family visiting from Friday and the left this morning. Lots of get togethers. I didn't make good choices and fell off track. Hope to stay on today.

I also slacked off during Easter. Got in 2 miles on sunday and a total of 16 for the week.

Thank you. I agree, family gatherings do tend to sap away much of our "free" time making it difficult to get in some exercise.

Remember, progress , not perfection! Give it your best and if you slip, just get back on-track as soon as possible. I set a goal of walking 30 minutes a day this week and made it every day but one! Now I am feeling better and a little bit more fit, so that is motivating me to continue. Good luck to you and I'd love to hear about your presents!

March 23. Got my exercise in but fell off track. I need to learn a new way to handle the stress in my life instead of eating. Tomorrow is going to be better.

I didn't realize that I am doing a challenge!

My winter coat fits a little looser! How my clothes fit is the only way I have to know if I'm still losing weight.

A few days ago I started to make sure that weight loss could continue. I still have just sugar in my life, from what I have to drink. Some days I can drink water all day, and some days I can't. I make our own lemonaide with less sugar than the recipe, and with Stevia replacing some of the sugar. I mix the lemonaide with my chamomile peppermint tea.

I was able to cut back on the lemonaide for a couple of days.

I'm going to concentrate on less sugar for a couple of days a week. I am drinking less of the sugar than before my diagnosis - I'm not worried about it. It is a good way to control the pounds, though!

The real challenge is finding a substitute for the bread. We eat a lot of sandwiches.

Do you mean you just got diagnosed with Diabetes today. Unfortunately Diabetes can affect your moods. It is a scary disease especially when one does not know what they can do about it.

I believe you've come to the right place to get information and support for this disease.

March 22, Stayed on track all day. I had my 3 Grandkids ~ 2 boys 8 & 6 and my granddaughter that is 2 and has arthogryposis for 6 hours today so I'll have to say I got my exercise today.

Great job for you also!!!! I try to get that walk in 4 -5 times/week. I did carb out in the middle of the day though.

I love walking. But I just can't get past the fear of dogs after me and my chihuahuas were attacked by a pitbull. All 3 of us had battle wounds but we all survived. This was 5 years ago. I keep trying to get out there.

Great Job byrun !! 3 miles is Fantastic.. I am just starting to wallk after not walking for many years. I am up to 45 mins daily.
