hate to ask this, but if you are in your 40s it could be menopause or perimenopause. I myself am in my 40s and while I have not had those symptoms yet, Those are two that I have read will increase blood sugar, so it worries me. but then I have read that those are symptoms of low blood sugar too. I am sure others who have had this will know what to tell you.

I am 53 yrs old. some days i dont have any of them . but when i get them i usely use my moisture bath beads & epsom salt in my tub to cool off from the night sweats. I like to know when these night sweats & hot flashes will end? Tinkerbell54

Yes, tink, I think there may be a way. Just don't go low at night! To do that test your Blood Glucose (BG) levels before bedtime and if you are below 130 you may then have a snack of something with protein in it. Since protein takes a long time to digest, you have a long slow release of glucose into your bloodstream and you should not go low overnight.

I used to have "liver dumps" when I went low and had elevated BG levels upon awakening. That was what my Dr told me to do to combat that, and so I think that this would work for you as well.

Praying for your improving health

Been on dialysis treatments now for about a month - this time around, and for 10 months previoujsly starting in Nov 2006. Had an improvement in my kidneys and was off for about 6 yrs.

Oh we men DO have hot flashes and night sweats at times, but we don't talk about them much.

I guess we're "wired" differently, as well as the plumbing being different.

sorry to hear about your mom. I was never close to anyone with diabetes, no one in my family has it, I was adopted as an infant, I found my birth mother and birth father in the mid 90s, dont keep in touch with them anymore, but brith father told me back then, noting ran in his family that he knew of…well I found out in 2008 from one of his daughters, that I am close to, that he had type 2 and both of his parents did. if only I had known that a few years earlier, not sure when he developed it, he is in his late 60s now. So I had no way of knowing to be cautious. I know you still miss your mom, my dad has been gone for 25 years this month.

I am sorry to learn your mom has passed. My mom is still kicking at 83, but my dad died from a freak accident when he was 47 (1971).
