Hello,

My name is Michelle Litchman. I am a doctoral student at the University of Utah College of Nursing. For my dissertation research I am examining online peer-to-peer health among individuals with diabetes. I am interested in knowing the relationship between the intensity to which someone is involved with the diabetes online community (DOC) and their health. Currently, there is very little research about the DOC and peer-to-peer health.

I will be gathering data through a confidential survey that can be accessed online. The survey takes about 30 minutes to complete. Please link to the survey here: https://redcap01.brisc.utah.edu/nursing/redca.... While it is a little lengthy, this is the first of its kind to analyze the DOC this way. Your input is valuable.

Once the data has been analyzed, I will follow-up with the Diabetic Connect community to share my findings. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Best Regards,

Michelle Litchman, MS, FNP-BC

I had that happen to me also. However it was a number and I had added a + sign to indicate more than that number of friends I had. I was able to remove the + and continue the survey.

Michelle,

I started your survey but could not answer questions 14 & 15 because I'm not an "official" diabetic.

The rest of this is just FYI: A couple of years ago my doctor told me I was heading toward diabetes if I didn't change my ways. I changed my lifestyle with exercise, strict diet, vitamins & supplements, stress control (prayer & meditation) & lost 40 lbs. In my last fasting blood work I had Serum Glucose 135, blood pressure 122/74 and High LDL 229. (My father had over 300 LDL all his life and died at age 85 of pneumonia.)

I regret that I couldn't finish the survey but since I'm not really a diabetic, maybe I shouldn't?

Hi Michelle,

I'm happy to have you in our "family." Like James said below, you might check with Alliance Health regarding your survey. http://www.alliancehealth.com/
Excuse my ignorance, your credentials … MS, FNP-BC what do they mean?

My wife usually gives me the honorary degree of DA, meaning Dumb A$$ LOL
Seriously, I would like to know how MS, FNP-BC translates.

Thanks…Tony5657 AKA Tony, DA, …in New Braunfels, TX :o)

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the heads up!

MS relates to my Master's degree in science and FNP-BC means that I am a family nurse practitioner, board certified. :)

Best, Michelle

Howdy Michelle.

Please contact Alliance Health for permission to post this here. You can contact them though the "feedback" link below.

This is a TRUSTe site and we want to be safe online, so if you can get a community manager to come back here and let us know that it is OK to fill out your survey.

I would be happy to fill it out should they give us the go-ahead.
