My husband has diabetes type 1 and has had it for several years. we are coming up on our 30s soon and wondered if we should be seeing a specialist for diabetes? he normally only sees his regular doctor for his medication and once a year fasting tests. he has trouble keeping it regulated due to a night shift schedule and other reasons he is not sure of. does anyone else see a specialist and not just their regular doctor? is it worth or? thanks!!

You are young and have a long life ahead of you. It is imperative to see a specialist on a regular basis. This isn't something to just take to chance especially since your husband works shifts and has difficulties with his regulation. Please don't gamble. It isn't worth it.

God Bless you and your husband.

I do see a specialist every three months. I have excellent control, but I still feel it is worth it. Give it a try!

In my opinion as a type 2, I am wondering why you haven't seen an Endochrinologist already? He is type 1 and he is having difficluties keeping his Blood Glucose (BG) levels regulated. If your husband's life an any thing to you, it IS worth it in both the money and the hassle.

I pray you get the feedback you need
