I have been a T1 diabetic for 28 years now. I have had good sugar readings most of the time. I have noticed that I am getting frustrated and overwhelmed so much anymore. One reason is because my 13 month old son was just recently diagnosed as a T1 diabetic also. I am not sleeping at night and I know that is one reason for the high blood sugars. My wife doesn't understand why I am so frustrated. Please any advice is welcomed.

Prayers and/or good thoughts heading your way!!!

Try this… You have a GREAT amount of experience to offer your son in the future, something I bet you did not have when you were diagnosed. Teach him well and encourage him as he grows up and I bet you those frustrations slowly fade away knowing what you have to offer. Again, thoughts and prayers to you and yours brother, hang in there and keep on keeping on!

Hi diabetic EMT, I'm a long time T1, and I am going and working through the daily frustrations. It helps to talk out your problems with either another diabetic or a counselor. I chose a counselor. And with your son, since you both have it, show him by example how you deal with your health, he will follow, that works with any situation. It's frustrating, but you've made it this far without any major complications and that is success. It's difficult with the people you love not understand, maybe take a different approach to explain it to her. no yelling or complaining. She doesn't have it, so she's not as understanding or just does not know what diabetics go through, she may just need more education. I hope everything works out for you. Take care.
