Over the past year my A1c has risen with every lab check. What am I doing wrong? How can I curb or better still reduce this lab test? I am currently up to 7.6

Additionally I just QUIT SMOKING (Yeah) after 43 years. I have already started gaining weight and my body does not cooperate when I try to exercise. (Even walking is a task for me). How can I curb my never ending appetite? If I go longer than 3Hrs between consuming food, I suffer with digestive upset.

I am maxed out on Metformin and Amaryl. I was taking NPH Insulin at bedtime. On my most recent check-up my Insulin has been split to AM and bedtime.

Hi jaybee52, it's been quite some time since I spoke to you. I saw mention in a response you sent about vitamin D that you were now on dialysis. I'm sorry to hear this, I hope you are coping with it.

Now onto me. For breakfast I might eat any of the following. Pineapple chunks, Blueberry waffles(3), plain bagel w/ plain cream cheese, 1&1/2 slices of french toast (no syrup) 3 slices bacon on a dry toasted cheese roll, or a bowl of non instant oatmeal with a little splenda on it. a glass of unsweetened orange juice or a cup of coffee with enough milk to change the color and 1/3 tsp of splenda.

Around mid morning I might eat an orange or a chewy granola bar that contains fruit and nuts.

Lunch might be a bowl of beanie weanies, a toasted cheese sandwich, 2OZ sf chocolate pudding, a pack of ramen noodles, other sf fruit.

Mid afternoon fresh or sf fruit, a chewy granola bar, possibly 3-4 cookies

Supper, whatever meat I am fixing for my husband., pan seared then baked in the oven. We eat, chix, turkey, beef, pork, fish, shrimp, liver, sausage, ham slices. Sides would be creamed potatoes, fries, baked potatoes, boxed potatoes, green beans, beets, turnip greens, collards, spinach, baked beans, tomatoes, home made salads, pasta.

Bedtime is usually a fruit and a granola bar, or a 3 scoop serving of ice cream.

That is a fairly accurate picture of what I eat. As far as how much, I put a normal size serving of whatever I have planned for supper, yet I rarely if ever clean my place. I usually eat all of whatever I choose for my other meals.

David made mention about my digestive system. It is like I said. If I go longer than 3 hrs between eating then I eat one of the main meals of my day, within 1 hr of completing my meal I am running to the bathroom to expel liquid stool. I usually have 2-3 of these liquid stools then I'm OK until the next time I choose not to eat or I go longer than 3 hrs before eating.

A question for you jaybee52 What made you think I just wanted to vent? If I was to read my posting as if it was coming from another client I believe I would of noted 'this lady is looking for help! Let me see if I have anything constructive to offer her'.
James in reference to exercise, I live out in the country where there are no paved roads or safe places to walk along the roadside. Additionally I have had surgery x 2 on my right foot attempting to correct a diagnosis of a Morton's Neuroma and I have started to experience some diabetic neuropathy pain.
I look forward to any and all responses.
Gratefully,
Lymy

Lymy

Thank you for your concern re my dialysis. I have just returned from completing my 3rd week on it just tonight, and I am on here mentally winding down from it before bed.

Sometimes, Lymy some folks just want to vent and get the emotions they are feeling out. I was trying to be sensitive to that possibility.

right now I am getting a bit drowsy and I want to be sharp and give you a good idea of where you might tweak to give you better Blood Glucose (BG) levels and therefore better A1cs

Until sometime tomorroew

Blessings

James

Congratulations on quitting smoking Lymy!

If you want to just vent, go ahead and vent. that is part of what we're here for.

However if you also want some non medical professionals' opinions on what MIGHT be happening, you will need to tell us more about how you are eating.

Of what do your meals consist? and in what quanities?

You say you are gaining weight. Those carbs which is converted to fat must be coming from somewhere! Let's take a look at your meal plan to see if it can be adjusted so you are losing the weight and still be satisfied>

That's a question I have asked for over 12 years and the answer is continuing for me each and every day. There are SO many factors involved in controlling your bg and getting good A1c results.

What you eat is certainly something to consider so what do you eat? I see you talk about digestive upset and also what do you mean by your body does not cooperate when you try to exercise?

And before you answer kudos to you for wanting better control!
