Hello all, I am new to DC. I have a question I am sure many of you have come across or have experienced and I am looking for possible solutions.

Q: Since I was Diagnosed when I was 21 (34 now) I have been drinking diet soda. Mostly Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper. I know I am in a way addicted to them because I get headaches and irritable if I do not have a soda at least 1x a day. Do any of you have any recommendations on how to stop drinking soda all together? I would love any help you have to offer!

Howdy from "fabulous" Las Vegas FlyChik.

In college I had a serious coffee habit. I'd brew and drink 3 - 12 cup pots in one day PLUS what I consumed in the cafeteria for 3 meals a day.

For some reason I decided enough was enough and one weekend I decided to quit coffee "cold turkey" BIG mistake,(should have had the cold turkey)!

OH MY! I got SUCH a headache! And I really never got headaches! My brain got used to being wired on caffein and it was rebelling, big time!

From painful experience I would say just taper off of the colas and drink water or a non caffeinated "diet" soda. Decrease the number of times per day you drink caffein until you get down to 0.

Of course we just recently had a discussion about how the diet sodas are not the best for you as well. Read that discussion here ~

Praying God's blessing upon you and yours!]

Sometimes I have a couple of diet sodas a day sometimes none for days it depends on my mood … If I felt I was addicted and wanted to quit , I would quit COLD TURKEY put up with headaches/discomfort for a few days and go on living … Some say diet sodas are bad for you … I still enjoy them from time to time …
