In all my years I've never once heard of lower back pain being attributed to diabetes and I think I never will … Though I'm not a doctor … Just a diabetic that has had back pain and have numerous doctors for it . Each doctor was fully aware that I was diabetic and none thought to connect it to diabetes … Likely reason , lower back pain has no connection to diabetes … On the other hand I've know two different people both complained of lower back pain , both had cancer and both are now deceased … You should listen to James and see a doctor about what could be causing u the pain in your lower back …

Really Annon, back pain MAY have a source in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) but that may not be the real reason for back pain. There are a lot of other conditions which may impact your lower back.

For instance, I slipped and fell on a sidewalk just painted with grey paint (no warning signs) I sat down hard (enough to see stars) on my tailbone so I developed a "click" in my back. It turned into arthritis after a while. So I have pain in my lower back.

Some other causes of low back pain may be found here ~ http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/back-pain/DS...

So do not make the mistake of thinking that your pain would be due to DM. Get it checked out by a Dr to determine what it may be, and what would be your best course of action.
