This is hard to type, but I feel a need to get as many folks praying for my friend as I can.

She is a type 1 diabetic that has a very vibrant personality. Just fell in love with her the first time I met her and we have been fast friends ever since. Her and her husband share many similar likes as me and my husband and so we drew close.

Last Thursday, the details are not clear but, she fell from the back of a truck and had to be air lifted to the hospital where she remains in intensive care. We went to visit her today and it was heartbreaking to see her vibrance so quiet. She is unconscious and had head trauma. She's in her 70's and her husband is alone here. We are doing what we can, but healing like this is not coming from the hands of men.

So if you would, just take a moment and pray for them both. I appreciate it.

I am sad to say that Nelda passed away last Saturday. Her husband Paul was at her side as she shared her last breaths with him and moved on. Thank you all for the prayers and support.

Please if you have a moment, pray for Paul. They were married for 42 years and he laughingly told me yesterday that she had him trained just right, then left. He's hurting as we would all expect. They were two peas in a pod. He can use your spiritual hugs.

Well, we went to visit her yesterday, but found that she has been moved closer to her home and is in a rehab center. I am not sure what that really means, as I have not been able to speak with her husband. But I hope it's good news.

I am going to visit her again this weekend. I'm afraid it is not looking good. I don't know what to expect, but it is hard to see her so helpless. Paul has a heart of gold and is a real trooper.

Dear Gabby, I am and will be praying for your friend's healing and I like you believe her healing can't come from the hands of men. I will also keep her husband as well as you and your husband in my prayers. Your friend needs prayers for healing but the rest of you need prayers for strength and comfort in these difficult times.

God bless you for staying by your friends.

Thank you, I never really thought of it that way. I really have to get up and see her again. I have let too many other things get me busy. You have a great reminder here for me.

I'm not a praying type person, but I do want you to know that my heart goes out to her and her family and all her friends while they wait to let time heal. That is the hardest part-the waiting. I truly believe that time heals all things, as they are supposed to be.

GabbyPA 2013-02-18 09:25:31 -0600 Report

The waiting is the hard part. No one knows that more than her husband. I think we will go visit her again this week and I am going to print out this discussion and leave it with her and Paul so they can see all the people who are in their corner.

GabbyPA 2013-02-15 13:28:49 -0600 Report

My CERT leader went to visit her and brought her a butterfly garden so that if she does open her eyes, she will see something beautiful. She said that her and a nurse prayed over her while she was there and that she seems to know when someone is there visiting. That is encouraging.

Well, with everyone praying for her, there might be some earplugs needed. LOL Seriously, thank you so much.

Lord Jesus
I ask for this dear daughter of yours
Place your hand on her and mend her body so broken
Let the swelling of her brain cease to be and return to normal
In a time when we know our limitations
we know you are not limited
We ask this for Nelda
We ask this for her husband who loves her so
And we ask this for her friends and family who miss her
In Jesus name Amen

Just to let you know, I'm continuing to pray for Nelda & Paul, but in a different way than my previous prayer. Why? I believe the #1 reason for unanswered prayer is that we often ask God to do something that He has given us the power & authority to do ourselves. Asking God to do things He told us to do isn't going to bring answers to our prayers.

It took me years to learn the following facts, years of praying and years of in depth studying the Bible, mainly the New Testament in a modern English translation. I studied Hebrew & Greek, 2 of the original languages used by many of the Bible's authors, and learned that the New International Version of the Bible is the most accurate translation.

I have both experienced healings (and other) miracles for myself and for others so I know they’re real and they’re from God. I’m not 100% in that not everyone I pray for receives their healing but there are many variables involved, with God, with me and with the other person. However, I’m keeping on keeping on, praying that God will guide me to become more righteous and to see more victories. I, like you, have a long way to go and a short time to get there. :o)

OK, here comes the “GOoD Stuff!” The following Scriptures should be studied in context, but this is my very abbreviated attempt to share what I’ve learned.

In Matthew Chapter 10: Verse 1 from the New International Version (NIV) Jesus sends out the 12 disciples:
10:1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

In 10:8 Jesus tells them "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

The 12 disciples did all that Jesus commanded them to do in verse 10:8 & had great success because they accepted and used the authority and power that Jesus gave them. They didn't pray & ask God to heal the sick. The disciples allowed God's healing power to flow through them and God's miraculous healings took place. The disciples were humans just like we are but they obeyed Jesus by using their faith, their words and God's power to heal all sickness, disease, etc., etc.. They weren't doing this on their own. It was God's power that caused the miracles. They were merely obeying Jesus' words and by them accepting their responsibility, they took action and saw God's miraculous healing power many, many times.

The sincere, Holy Spirit filled, righteous Christian today can do the same thing. It's God's power but it's our responsibility to put that power to use. Then all that is necessary to release the faith & power that God has for us is to speak to the problem which can seem like a high mountain. Then faith & power are released through our words. God's healing power is available to the modern day Christian IF we simply study and obey Jesus' teachings/commands/instructions & let God work through us. Knowledge of God’s Word (the Bible) is imperative. This involves our wholesale commitment that actually enables us to live a righteous, positive, happier, healthier, more powerful & productive life.

Here Jesus tells us to actually speak to the “mountain”, meaning speak to the problem
Mark 11:22-24 New International Version (NIV)
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

OK, here’s my prayer: Lord God, I now intercede for Nelda’s healing. Thank you for these precious and powerful promises from your Holy Word. I have quoted Mark 11:22-24 and am believing these mountains that Nelda is facing will be removed because I’m following your instructions. Lord God, I’m praying with Your authority. I speak to you mountains, you obstacles, you injuries that have come to torment and even kill Nelda and I cast you out of her body, out of her life, and out of her entire “being.” You have no more authority over her. Go now! I also cast into her body, her life and her entire “being” complete and total healing from the Almighty God. Thank you Lord God! In the name of Jesus, …….Amen

I know her and her husband are very much robed in faith. They also are incredibly positive people and that will help so much in allowing what they have to do to work with what miracle might be at hand. I am thinking I will be printing this out after a few more days, and share all this encouragement with her and Paul.

Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Lord God Almighty, I know nothing is impossible for you so I come boldly to you asking for your complete healing for Nelda. I ask this in faith, believing and knowing that the words of Jesus are just as true today as they were 2,000 years ago. I also pray for Paul, for strength, courage and faith. Thank you Lord God for your Living Word, the Bible, where we read of many miraculous healings performed by Jesus, His disciples and common ordinary people, just like us. Use us Lord, use our faith filled prayers to bring total healing to Nelda. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

This is surely a time when man cannot take any credit for what good may come. When I saw her, I was shocked. Thank you for helping out.

I spoke at length with her husband yesterday and he told me that she fell off the back of a rental moving truck. They were unpacking a storage unit they had when she took a tumble. She bruised her brain and her lungs. Her skull is fractured (and has had two surgeries so far) and broke several ribs. He said she understands when you talk to her. He was joking with me to say this is the time he has been able to get a word in. LOL It's good to hear him keep a light heart about it. He's working hard to keep only positive thoughts going. He said she needs to come home to eat all the food friends have been bringing him.

Thank you all for your thoughtfulness.

Hi Gabby, I will be praying for your friend. We all need people around us to pray. I just now started with diabetic connect, so I am a newby. Just got out of the hospital for a week stay and was diagonosed with GERD. Boy it's hard to find something to eat, and very painful if you choose wrong. The pain with this episode was terrible, now maybe I can get some help through here on what to eat to keep you regular and out of pain. I am willing to get help from any new friends. Thanks Gabby, and God Bless

The support of friends is so important in our lives, no matter the stage. It is kind of sad that we wait for a crisis to pray for some people.

Also Lord, please guide and direct the medical team caring for Nelda so that they will be able to do all that is necessary to bring about a complete healing for Nelda. Enough said. Prayers are being sent up. I believe strongly in the power of prayer. Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
