So my morning snack I had some grapes, mozzarella cheese cubes and some apple slices. All very small portion sizes. There were pretzels in this snack pack but I decided not to eat them. I'll be glad when Friday gets here so I can see my doctor. Looks like I may have to be put on insulin in addition to the Januvia. We shall see

You're right! I buy apples alot. For some reason I find that my body handles apples alot better than some of the other fruits. And Mirena - please don't be afraid or worried about taking insulin. I take it along with my Januvia and along with my diet and exercise helps to keep my sugar in great control. I trust in God and know that it's just part of the plan to keep me healthy! And you're doing great on your food choices!

Hey Mirena.

That is a great improvement over your meals when you first started posting on DC, as I recall. (when I started eating for diabetes, I thought it OK to have rice cakes as a snack. Boy was I wrong!)

I believe it is great that you didn't eat the pretzels due to their carb load on your body and also due to the salt content (especially if you have high blood pressure).

If I would have any tweaks to suggest, I would suggest not eating two fruits together. Grapes are a higher carb food, and apples are better, but still have carbs in them. Were I to be given that snack, I would postpone eating the grapes and eat the apple.
