I am working and eventually moving to the Greenville, South Carolina area.

I am wondering if anybody has ever started or belonged to a group fitness club? I am talking about just friends, people in your apartment, people around the community, etc. Not these high priced fitness centers.

If so, how did it work out?

I was thinking of starting one or joining one around the area as I have a hard time getting motivated about exercise.

What is everyone's opinion on this? Any places to try and find one of these clubs?

Thank you in advance,

Sorry, also, The gym I use is in my housing complex. We have 3 outdoor Pools, and 1 Indoor Pool, A fairly good size gym with 5 treadmills, 5 stairclimbers, 5 stationary bikes and 6 or 7 weight machines in 1 room and a another huge room for yoga, weight lifting etc. I think if you want to go local and not to a fancy gym that costs a lot and you don't have use of one in your complex try the YMCA.

Hello Corey,
I, myself have not joined any type of exercise program because I cannot stick to any type of day to day routine due to my illiness'. However, I just had 24 shots on my back Thurs and should be good to go for a few weeks and I will go to the gym with my husband. I am fairly to my area and haven't really met any "friends" yet. Also it is hard for me to get motivated when I am in such pain all of the time. Most days even walking is a chore. But, I do agree, working out with others is a lot more fun than by yourself. I am a licensed Water Aerobics Instructor and I loved having others in my class. You can talk and laugh and the workout seems easier and goes by faster. If you do go it alone, be sure to bring an iPod to listen to, it does make the time go by quicker. Good Luck !! Oh, BTW, Where is Greenville located? I live 45 mins away from Myrtle Beach in NC.

Hello CJ. Greenville is about 3.5 hours West of Myrtle Beach.
Sorry to hear about the pains. Hopefully the shots help for a while.
I have not looked into the YMCA here. But I surely do like the water aerobics idea. I like to swim, and that might be a good route to go.

I agree, doing it alone sucks. I need the extra support because it is too easy for me to just say, well maybe tomorrow…
