I have found that berries of most any kind don't affect my sugar much. The key is to eat them in moderation. You can't just eat a bushel of blackberries and expect it to not affect your blood sugar.

Ok to me there are fruits that are better at not raising your Blood sugar but to actually use in lowering blood sugar I have not personally heard of that.

Fruit usually is high in sugar itself thus the sweetness. Some are tart like lemons as Jay mentioned and I take it as those who do not raise out BG.

I had to learn these things as well.. I have a doctor that is T2 & has been for many many years. I guess I got lucky.. he was able to share with me his best practices, dos and donts, and really gave me a great head start.

With that being said- Diabetes is different for everyone. For example, I know some that can eat banannas- those are high carb and for me convert to sugar almost immediately! so I stay away from them.

One of the first things my doc told me was "eat a diet rich in fruits, nuts & veggies" also, high protien, low carbs.

Trial & error & communites like this one are great as you can learn more than you ever wanted to know! Read, learn and soak in as much as you can! We are here to help. I am by all means still a newbie and learning. I can't thank enough this community for what is taught me!

Good luck! I hope this helps.

Grapes (red and green), pears, apples-these all help me keep my BGL low. they may not all work for you the same.

I find that Goggle, bing or whatever your search method is works great for finding this stuff out. that is what I had to do when I was diagnosed- I had no idea of any of this.. just hit my 1yr anniversary yesterday 02/07/2013.

Hope this helps a little.. have a great day! 1 step at a time :)

The BEST fruits to bring down a higher Blood Glucose (BG) would be Lemons and Limes. But I know few people who like to eat lemons and limes stright up. Even Lemon and lime juice will have a lowering effect

When I eat fruits in my meal plan I eat berry fruits like blueberries or strawberries. They DO raise my BG levels but not as much as as other fruits.
