Is anyone taking Januvia? I'm on the 100mg. Is it best to take it before or after a meal?

Consult your doctor. I'd recommend seeing an Endocrinologist. For your levels you mnight be better off starting on Metformin or Glumetza and Glimepiride.

I took Metformin when I was first diagnosed but it doesn't do well with my digestive system. When I took it with food. I was throwing up 20 minutes later. Glimepiride was fine but my doctor was concerned that it was making my sugars drop too much. I was on Actos, but since that is linked to bladder cancer she switched me to Januvia.

Hi Mirena. I am on 100mg of Januvia also. I take it every morning right after I wake up. It's easier for me to take it at the same time that I take my Lantus each day. I asked my doctor if morning or evening was better. She said both are ok as long as I stick to my schedule. I don't think that the time of day that you take it really affects your BG level, but you may want to ask your doctor just to see what he/she feels is best for you.

So you are Januvia plus insulin? I go see my doctor next Friday and I'm wondering of I'll have to be out on insulin along with the Januvia as well. It's so crazy I'm down 18 pounds and I'm still having issues. I swear Diabetes is ass backwards sometimes. Lol

It sure is LOL You never know what you're going to get. Yes I take Januvia plus 15 units of Lantus each morning. Between my carb counting, exercise (41 lbs lost so far!), and medicine I'm doing well. It seems to be working for me. My last A1C was 5.6! I will do whatever I have to to stay in control even if it means insulin. I think the risk of not taking it far outweighs the idea of having to take it once a day. Know what I mean? I have to go back to the doctor on the 20th to see if she wants to lower my Lantus at all. She's a little afraid that I'll start getting to low. It's so hard because it's such an individualized disease and what works for one person may not work for another.

I can take it with or without food but I'm having issues with my blood sugar being high.
