I hate that when it happens, when diabetes throws you off balance and you don't have to do anything. So confusing all the time! :)

I was told NOT to skip meals because the body thinks you're starving so the liver jumps in to flood you with more glucose!

I feel for you lanessa! My Blood Sugar does that sometimes too! I will wake up around 5 and it will be around 85 and then by the time I get around to eating at 7 it has jumped up to 120 or so…My diabetic counselor said it was because my body was working overtime to make up for not eating. So now I drink one of those Glucerna snack shakes when I get up…120 calories and 16 carbs (I think). I am taking slow acting Solostar Lantus in the morning and use Novolog during the day as well as taking Metformin…I have gone off Glipizide recently. Hang in there…this is tricky business getting it regulated.

25 units of Novolog , that sounds like a bit high for a corrective bolus … Yet if that is what your doctor instructed , by all means listen … Last time I took a corrective bolus when I was in your range and hadn't ate and wasn't about too 4.2 units to correct it … My pumps calculator figured that's what I would need to bring it into range … Be careful … Taking a high dosage of fast acting insulin without eating could lead to DEATH …

My Dr. told me that when I don't eat anything, it makes my sugar go up. He said it made the body work harder. So I eat about every four hours, to keep things regulated. Especially if I am on insulin and meds..witch require you to take with food or milk.
