Well I finally got another A1C test done not doing so good, my last three are 9.4,11.4,9.4. I have been trying to take my med regular doing better at it since I got a lockable pill box and keep it by the chair I sit at to eat. They changed my meds I am now on Metformin 2 x day, and Victoza 1x a day. I have three months to get my numbers in the good range or they will put me on insulin, Also found out that my kidneys are being affected so if the numbers aren't better they will also recommend Dialysis. Looking for some good recipes. What your favorite site to go to? Any advice is welcome.

Well my numbers are in and looking good!!!! LDL Cholesterol was 192 now 131, all the markers for stroke or heart attack are down as well from 3.1 to1.2, A1C went from 9.4 to 7.5. My Dr would like me to lower that and my Cholesterol a couple of points so she added Welchol, to my Metformin, Bydureon, and Lipitor. the only thing we need to worry about now is my thyroid seams to working a little to hard so will check all blood work in three months again.

update, well my three months are up. I have Blood work app tomorrow.
I did have to quit the Victoza because my insurance would not pay for it, so they put me on Bydureon. Have been on that a little over a month and my levels are still too high and for the last two weeks our house has been in shambles because we are getting tile all over downstairs so I have not been cooking and we have been eating out and once again I have not been taking my Pills. :( Will post again when I know what my numbers are and after my Dr. App on May 6th.

Life is anything but predictable. Messy things going on in my life often make my control follow as well. One thing that I do for my meds is get the one week pill container and fill it them (actually I have two one for AM and one for PM) every week. I keep them at my bed side and on the table so that I see them and make sure I take them. Being consistent in at least one thing helps me keep sane with things are crazy.

Don't be afraid of insulin. (I am lol so I wish I wasn't scared of the shot, but it's really not a big deal these days anymore) It's the best controller out there.

If u look @ the info out there u will see that insulin had the least bad side effects … Many medications used to treat diabetes have bad side effects … I wouldn't worry about going on insulin … I love insulin , I'm a insulin junkie …

I hate it when doctors threaten us with insulin. I would rather be on it than all the drugs I am taking, but the doctor won't do it. What is most important is to find a treatment plan that works for you.

Dakota do you keep a food/blood sugar journal? when i first started this trip i wrote down my sugars before eating…then what i ate at each meal and snack…i learned if i ate 1/2 an english muffin at breakfast i needed a yogurt & 3 egg whites scrambled with a little cheese to even out sugars. also 30 mins of cardio on a bike 3 days a week. try it and i hope it helps you.
