I work the graveyard shift and am finding it very hard to control my BS. I also have a lot of stress in my personal life. can any one give me some advise? My sugars are all over the place anywhere from 38 low to 600 high! I am currently taking 25 Units (Lantus) in the morning and 500 MG Metformin twice daily.

Emotionally OK, but tomorrow will be my first dialysis treatment after my previous ones about 6 yrs ago. I pretty much know what to expect since I have been through it before, but right now my energy level is the pits and my appetite is nearly non existent. But my kidney Dr said that was to be expected. I expect that once I get a few treatments "under my belt" my energy and my appetite will start to return.

Thanks for asking!

600 is pretty high, did you contact your doctor's office to let them know your situation. That just seems too high.

Well I fan relate i,'m a traveller and I've recently just had to give myself a break cause long hrs and nights at home I've lived without for over 10yrs. And it takes its toll on you mentally and physically I've found it effective to give myself at least 30 min. of me time I know it may be hard but I would go somewhere where its just me and meditate on me I truly hope you find this helpful stay strong!!!

Howdy BJ,

Grave yard shifts are tough. I have worked those and also rotating shifts too. I did that before I was diagnosed with Diabetes, A lot of times I ended up eating a lot of carbs to try to compensate for the hours I worked.

What comes to mind is I am wondering about your food & drink intake. What other measures do you take beside the medications to try to manage your diabetes?

I pray you get it under control soon because that not a good way to live, on the Blood Glucose (BG) roller coaster.

James
