Hi all here is your humor of enjoyment

Enjoy.

The Dark Side Takes a Hit…
…and by the dark side I mean Hostess, folks. Not exactly the diabetic's friend when it comes to carbohydrates and sugars. After an 82 year run…Hostess has been forced to go out of business during failed labor negotiations. There's been a run on the stores like some precognition of a nuclear holocaust. When I heard the news yesterday I jumped in the vehicle and headed for Supermarket. The Hostess section…wiped clean. I grew up with Hostess. Hostess was my go to snack along with a pint of chocolate milk. Me and Hostess had history.

After I became a diabetic me and Hostess parted ways. The chocolate cupcakes with the chocolate frosting and the little white curly que across the top; the apple and the lemon Fruit Pies with a pint of half & half; the Orange cupcakes I'd only crave after sex; the Twinkies I always wished had more cream in them; and the little 6 pack of Donettes that I'd plan to just eat three…and then eat the other three in a feeding frenzy. When Lay's came out with their "Bet You Can't Eat Just One" slogan for their potato chips…I often thought of my Donettes- "Bet Ya' Can't Eat Just Three!"

As collateral damage I'm loosing the bread I've eaten since I was a kid. Wonder Bread. Wonder Bread was under the Hostess umbrella. I like Wonder bread. Now I've got to interview a line of wanna-be-my breads until I find something that's close. I go through a loaf of bread about every two weeks. At two loaves a month…I should find a replacement by next spring. I'd thought about maybe making my own bread…but it didn't sound that appealing once I was sober.

America losing Hostess is going to be like a crack addict finding out someone just killed his drug dealer. A reaching simile, yes, but I'm in mourning.

Have a good weekend. Me and Jack will…burp

Yeah The Suzie-Q' was my favorite whit the lemon pies but when the prices went up and diabeties raced out of control. I gave up the chocolate cake with that thick cream filling. Well I often passed them up cause I knew a half one of a Suzie-Q would send me to a suga surge that would send me straight out of my mind- I mean some DB act real crazy(no offense to anyone who are calm diabetics) who are fighters and require restraint do not need to eat Hostess sweets because it puts some on the dark side! Well maybe I was the only one!~ I even shyed away from the regular donuts with no powder, sprinkles, crumbs or chocolate.
I use to love to go to the Hostess Outlet to buy other sweets as an option- like pecan rolls!! I mean, it is smaller than a twinkie, right! Haha!! But since relocation I haven't been tempted to go to the Oultet because I am no longer close to one!! The Good Lord working on my behalf!!

Oh you are so sharp on the memory jogging! My favorites were the coconut covered "snowballs". I have to admit, I have not eaten anything Hostess since I was a kid, but it was always kind of nice to know they were still there. I do believe that the Twinkie recipe has been purchased so they will not die. I also believe that Wonder Bread was purchased, but not sure.

The twinkies of my children's childhood did not seem to taste like the Twinkies of my childhood. They probably changed the ingredients, like corn syrup for the sugar. I won't miss them at all, I've already gone through my mourning!

I think that it is not so much that the recipe is changed as much as our taste buds out grow those kinds of sweets. Thank goodness!

I don't miss Hostess because they had the worse tasting snacks. I grew up with TastyKake which at one point was only sold in Pa, MD and Va. I once at a Chocolate cupcake and a Twinkie. Never again. I did enjoy Wonder Bread.

I thought someone was going to buy the company.

I believe that was stated in some of the articles I read about that labor dispute. More likely may be the names of the products will be sold piecemeal and various other companies will produce the twinkies and the chocolate cupcakes.
They will no longer be produced by Hostess.

I feel your pain! I grew up on those awful Snoball things-you know, chocolate cake, creme inside, pink coconut marshmellow stuff covering all! I'm sure they were the worst for you, worse even than Twinkies!! But, even though I haven't eaten them recently, and couldn't even if they existed still, I mourn the loss of a childhood friend. RIP Snoballs ,we had some really good times growing up, didn't we??!
