Okay so I always tested my arms and fingers. But now they have become kinda firm ( in the spots I tested in) so I stopped. So I went to google and typed in " places to test blood sugar" and it told me that I could test my palm, thigh, calf, upper arm, and my other fingers. ( I only prick my pinky finger) so I tried my calf, and it pinched a little but it worked. I totally did not know that I could have pricked my calf at all! But anyways, does anyone have any idea what snacks I could try to eat that like have low carbs but would fill me up? Thanks. Angie. :)

Why are you testing in the same spot? To prevent lumps you have to change sites. You should not test from your legs at all. There is no way I would prick my calves to test blood. I don't want the site to get infected so I rotate sides of fingers and arm sites with no problems.

Raw veggies high in fiber or something with protein will help you feel full longer. Good luck.

I test in the same spot because for some reason I find that it hurts more to test in other spots, and the calf and thighs don't hurt it was proven to not hurt and also it's a really good spot. And thanks ill try more veggies!

Here lately I have enjoyed a whey protein shake shaken in a shaker bottle. Not a lot of prep time, and the protein fills me up and digests a long time. It is very low carb.

Hi - do you take just the proitein shake for a meal, as part of a meal or as a snack. I bought a chocolate flavour today to see if I like them.

here lately I have been feeling like not eating, which is a side effect of my Kidneys not cleaning my blood effectively. I am just not hungry and I know I need to "eat" something. So in cases like that, it is a replacement for a meal.

When I feel like eating (sometimes) I will add it to a meal.

And there are times I do just have it as a snack, like at bedtime, so I don't go low overnight and have a liver dump.

So I use it all of those ways

I'm sorry that you have the kidney problems. It must be very difficult. I think that I'll try it as a bedtime snack instead of the cheese and almond beverage. I can see the convenience. It might also be helpful when I have to have non-fasting bloodwork.. In any event, I'm glad to have read your original comments .

They are available in most grocery stores. I get mine at Superwalmart. I have seen them in grocery stores as well when I was in the Milwaukee WI area when visiting a friend. I usually buy mine with chocolate flavored. I have seen them in vanilla and strawberry flavors but have not tried those.

the vanilla or strawberry? Don't know haven't tried them but the chocolate is good! The one I am drinking at the moment has kind of an "orangy" aftertaste, but it is not strong.

I can go down to my apt and get 2 of the 3 brands I have tried, but I would be unable to fly back to Milwaukee and get the 3rd brand as SuzyQ told me that she doesn't care for it and has thrown it away.

oh no, I thought you might know which brands off the top of your head, not if you had to go to any trouble to post them…maybe if you think about it the next time you have a shake?

I am currently using the "Fortress" brand. I have just bought a new jar of "Six star" brand from "wally-world"
