a few weeks ago I had pnhewmonia (sorry can't spell) I also had a blood sugar probably miles over 200. Anyways, this is how I found out. picture this: I wake up from a nap on the coach, feel very sick, rush towards back bathroom, like my legs were pulled out from under me and I fell 3 times trying to get to the door in the hallway. Sweating out of every pore in my body and hurting I stayed on the floor the last time and called 911. Thank God for cell phones! Anybody have thoughts on my inability to stay on my feet?

I felt that way too and I also had pneumonia and to top it off asthma at the same time too. Wow my sugars were really high and when I call 911 they gave me treatment for my asthma and they were saying that they could hear my wheezing when they were coming through the door! Got Hosiptalized and was there for 1 1/2 week. It's bad when we are sick cause our blood sugars go high and hard to bring it down. I know even when they give me meds for everything in the Hosiptal my surfaces were 300-400 and they where upset cause it would not go down but was watched closely . Just take care of your self the best you can cause I do try my best to take of myself and mr husband helps a lot too. He take care of me better than his self and me. Stay well!

Thank you for your story, when I had pneumonia my blood sugar was also 3 to 400 and sometimes the doctor's and nurses acted a little nervous. I left my hospital early against their medical wants. I felt great and couldn't handle the punishment of being in that hospital anymore. I thought them keeping me there was unnecessary and maybe milking the government for more money (the government pays my health care). They said their was a complicated treatment plan for post pneumonia patients, didn't do it. Thought their might be a chance I regretted my decisions but nothing ever came back to bite me. All I have is me and my cat but sometimes I have a sister that stops by and helps me. She has 3 kids including a baby, so I try not to bother her too often. Went to 2 food pantries this month so I'm trying to do for myself as much as I can. Sorry if I talked your ear off. Have a better week!

When you fell, you were conscious through the whole episode? I'm assuming since you called 911. I fell one te uncontrollable, but I was knocked out and it was due to fever and stress and taking medication. But I only fell once and it had nothing to do with my legs. Hope you are feeling better. What did your doctor say? Were you having prior issues with your legs before being sick?

Thankyou Gwen for your concern. Nothing wrong with legs previously. Doctor's said I had pneumonia that caused my blood sugar to go through the roof which may have caused the falls. Yes I remained conscious during every fall, though I think I remember hitting my head and closing my eyes on the way down. That's the whole story as far as I remember. Thank you!

How are you feeling now?
How about the legs?
Did you talk to a doctor yet?

Sure did, talked to him a lot after my 3.5 day hospital stay. Left early though cuz I thought they were milking the government for money and I felt great.
Legs are great other then thorn I picked up the other day in my bare feet no discomfort at all. Thank you for your concern!

May I suggest that as a Person with Diabetes (PWD) you should NEVER be walking about with bare feet. When you get punctured in your foot you may not be able to easily defeat an infection it would happen to bring

I always wear shoes when I am out and about. I also have slippers with hard rubber soles for inside my apt. The only time I am barefooted is when I sleep and when I shower. (thinking about getting water shoes for that)

Thank you Jayabee for the good ideas, I will get me a pair and wear them instead of bare feet right away.

Any number of reasons … This is a question u should ask your doctor or another medical expert … We here could offer our opinions , that's about it …

I think that would be a logical step to take also and I did but my health benefits are all through the government and their assembly line (method of treating his patients) doctor didn't take me seriously acted like he didn't have time. fyi. I've since asked my medical helpers to help me get a different doctor.
