Is anyone using the weekly Byetta injections? I've had great results with the daily injections. A1c in the 5's for last 3 years

I was using Byetta twice a day for a while before my pregnancy in 2011. I was taking off during the pregnancy and have not gone back on it. I did have great results with it, including much needed weight loss. My A1C did not change that drastically, but I was only on it like 6 months. My doctor is talking about wanting to try it again.

My Dr wants to put me on Byetta and I was looking to see if anyone had taken it and what their experience was. I read about the nausea at first. Does it really lower the A1C so quickly? Plus it says that it gives you some weight loss, is that true?

Before I went on Byetta several years ago my glucose readings would bounce from over 300 to 36 in one day. I've kept charts and pie graphs (thanks to Accucheck computer program) that show amazing progress and success. A1c has been in the 5's last 2 years. I've reduced other meds also. There was some initial nausea but it is minimized if you eat within 15 minutes of the shot. I am now trying only one shot a day because I've had a few low episodes and the doctors have said I'm keeping it too low! That is why my doctor suggested I consider the weekly shot. My overall health is much better since I've been on Byetta.

I used to use Byetta it made me sick as a dog at first I used the highest dose for 3 years then it stopped working for me until the put me on Victoza which ended up giving me pancreatitis :( … So I didn't have to much luck with it … Just a little Trivia Byetta is made from Lizzard spit … I was kind of surprised when I found that out… Lol good luck to you !!!!!

Thanks for your input. I have a two friends on Victoza and they like it but my insurance doesn't like it. I knew about the lizard spit but it is chemically replicated. Supposedly no lizards are harmed in the replication. ;-D

actually they don't use lizard spit ( actually Glia monster venom) but they have synthesized the active ingredient which has the effect on one's Blood Glucose. Gila monster venom is a natural product and cannot be patented. So they only use a synthetic version.
