Hey Guys!!!
So today i decided to start exercising again after a long time of being completely lazy. I tested before starting i was at 7.5 so I thought to myself that's a perfect number to go ahead and do my exercises. After only 30 minutes on the elliptical i drop all the way down to 3.9… so my question is…is it normal that i dropped that quickly? i thought that one normally drops only after a couple of hours of exercise.

PS I am a type 1, and i had eaten about an hour prior to working out.

Always carry a fast-acting carbohydrate food such as glucose tablets when exercising in the event blood sugar drops too low and hypoglycemia symptoms develop during exercise. Everyone is different, most if the time my blood sugar drops quickly, especially cardio exercises. When I do weight training, my blood sugar actually increases. When it drops I eat 30 min before cardio, then eat a snack afterwards also, which was recommended by my nutritionist.

I am a T1 also and can drop quickly while working out so depending on my numbers I will have a snack with some protein and carbs if I need to raise my BG reading. A good snack for me is 1/2 apple with peanut butter or some nuts! I love to hike, but haven't in a while because of the drops, can't figure out how to keep my BG from dropping too much even with a snack!

Yes I believe diabetes is really good for our mind body and soul and oh yeah are diabetes it's really help me keep my numbers at a steady level and also to it will keep us regulated and as long as we have good diet food and exercise helps regulate numbers.congratulations by the way on getting back to the exercise program

You're burning energy, and if all the stored energy you had in you was short term like sugar and carbs, depending on your workout intensity, yes, that will drop quickly. I'll assume you're in Canada by your numbers. Try eating some form of proteion before a workout like meat or nuts/peanut butter. You won't burn through them as quickly and risk a low. Numbers seem good otherwise.

I don't know if exercising for 30 min will drop you A1c by 3.5 points but I do know that when I exercise regularly my BS is in the normal range. Also, dieting helps but congrats on getting back to exercise it does help.
