You have to love your pump. You have to be one with your pump. You have to think about your pump. You have to caress your pump. You have to know all the features of your pump and you need to experiment with your pump. You need to know everything about your pump. You need to make your pump work for you and not the other way around. Its like golf- the pump is an extension of yourself!

I have 3 blood glucose machines, 1 at home 1 in my backpack and 1 at work. I leave them there , because I can't live without my machine, because I wear a pump.

When I go to school and forget my monitor, I just have a extra one at school. So maybe at work/school you should have extra things, so when that happens your covered

I don't work, sometimes I go a whole day without checking. I am not in the mood, or being stubborn about it. If that happened to me, I would see if someone would cover for me, if possible, or go home on your lunch break to get it, or have a family member bring it to you, if that works to.

Well I recently went to work with a low reservoir … Later that day my pump ran dry , not a drop of insulin left … It was stay @ work and chance a high blood sugar or leave work and do an infusion set change … Well I stayed @ work … Got home got my pump going again checked my glucose and yay it was all normal … I will always check to see if I have enough insulin in my pump to make it through the day if I won't be near home …

Don't panic…you will raise your blood glucose, rely on your "Emergency" plan of action (if you have one) if not, here is one:

If possible can you leave a small diabetes kit (for emergencies) with your school's medical office?

I hope that this helps.

lol…thanks, Mays. I actually work at a university and I, 40 year old that I am, forgot my insulin and had no back up supplies (just kept forgetting to resupply my stash). But daddy's will always take care of their baby girls I guess :-)
