I have been doing strengthing exercises in the pool at the ymca with my caregiver for my knees. I have been at it for a little less than a year. Today, with a support band around my waist and the small of my back and my caregiver at my side, I swam. Really swam. All that exercise has paid off. I did not want to stop but I am glad my caregiver had the final word on it cuz I am really sore tonite. I hope to go back on Thurs.

WhooooHooooo! It is a gentle reminder of what it feels like to learn to walk when your a baby.

I used to be an avid swimmer and even did a lot of scuba diving. It has been a long time due to my knees.

Yeah for you! Are you gonna work your way up to maybe putting on a pair of shorty fins and really working those legs?

not so sure about that Nick. I used to scuba dive and I remember how tired I would get and how shakey my legs would get. That was BEFORE this mess with my knees.

Hooray for you Turtle! Glad to hear it!

I have been afraid to swim ever since my balance has been affected by my ministrokes.

James (and Turtle too), I’ve never been a strong (or confident swimmer), but while on vacation had the opportunity to rent a wetsuit top like this: http://www.wetsuitwearhouse.com/page/WW/777-X...
because the water we were in was a bit cool (for this old man anyway). It does a good job keeping you warm, and because it’s neoprene, provides some good buoyancy as well. I was wearing a 2.5mm thickness and could not force myself under.

Thank you. It's awfully hard being a Turtle and not being able to swim!
