I love to eat crackers, like Ritz and other ones to. I just read that peanut butter and crackers are slow to digesting, but..I found this to.

8. Myth or Fact: A 200-calorie snack of peanut butter and crackers is more likely to control your appetite than just eating 200 calories' worth of crackers.

Answer: Fact. The reason: "Fats digest much slower than carbohydrates, and they remain in the stomach longer, which means we naturally feel full longer after eating a snack that contains at least some fat," says Levy.

Additionally, Moyad points out that simple carbohydrates (like crackers, bread, or cookies) elicit a quick rise in blood sugar and insulin levels, which subsequently drop just as quickly, causing dramatic shifts in both mood and appetite. "In short, you find yourself edgy and hungry," says Moyad.

The trick is always knowing your portion size and using a whole grain cracker can work even better. But you are so right. Keep that protein and fat in there and you will have better success with your snacks.

I buy the Little Debbie P&B crackers, they are four to a pack, keeps the carbs down. I also use Ritz and Townhouse for pm snacks with cheese or PB, just the recommended serving size tho and no more!

Well after reading the article Anna, I can see where the confusion comes in. The writer switched from 200 calories of peanut butter crackers to 200 calories of simple carbohydrate crackers without the added fat and protein contained in the peanut butter.

In fact Movad does not address the protein content in the peanut butter filling at all. So if you want to eat peanut butter crackers, I would say "go ahead" because she is comparing the nutrition of two different different substances.

So go ahead and eat your Ritz, just be sure to add peanut butter to them.
