Hi everyone! I need some help I keep getting a cold plus sinus infection. This is the second time in 1 month that I have had a bad cold. This is driving me crazzzzzy! My nose is stopped up, i can't breath, and I am coughing. I just feel bad. It takes me about a week to get over these colds. My mom says that I don't dress warm enough, but where I live you don't know if it going to be 75 one day and 40 this next. Just like today it is ice coming down and yesturday it was 60 degrees. Right now I am on an antibotic and cough mediciene. It also messes with my BS numbers because I am not hungry and my number will go up and down. Do you'll have any ideas that could help me boost my imune system? I am going to go the doctor this week if this does not go away so that it will not turn into pnoumonia. I did have my flu shot.

I quess I am okay. He looked in my ears, took bp, took temp, and asked what was wrong while giving me another prescription. So now I am on a new antibiotic, so we will see.

Why would he prescribe an antibiotic for a cold? That seems a bit odd. I have a friend who for years thought she was suffering with reoccurring bronchitis. Turns out she has a rare fungus growing in her lung and all the antibiotics she was getting didn't do a thing but make her resistant to them.

The viatmin C may be gotten either through foods and drinks. See a sideshow of foods contining Vit C here ~ http://www.thedailygreen.com/healthy-eating/e... of course be aware this is promoted to the general population, and may not all be diabetes friendly foods.

Of course you could also cheat and megadose on Vit C tabs from the pharmacy.

The food sources of Vit D may be found here ~ http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/hi...

If the weather is warm enough for sunbathing you can lay out in the sun, but is impractical when it is cold out.

I personally megadose on D3 capsules (5000 IU /day) as well as what I get from fish oils and egg yolks.

Get plenty of rest, get your vitamin C and D3 and eat your greens. Those things can help boost your immune system. The other thing is to clean house and wash everything after you have recovered. Plus, make sure you are fully recovered because it will come back again if you are not. Even if you feel good, use caution.
Feel better my friend.

Howdy,

It might be helpful on days, like you've been having, to layer your clothing. Something like a T-shirt for really warm days, a sweatshirt for medium warm days and a heavy jacket for cold days. That way you have the warmth you need with you.

That is what we do here in Florida. It will be cold in the morning and hot as blazes by noon. I layer my clothing and make sure at least one layer is sleeveless. I know I will need it here. Layers are a great way to cover your bases.

that makes sense to me, if Doggier gets to warm ,can always take off something or cold even to put on another article of clothing, maybe the person should carry the items in a bag and go from there as to what the weather is going to be.

Well I think we all know that diabetes does weaken our immune systems … That being said I think just an over all healthy life style would contribute to u getting sick so often … 2013 is just around the corner and it is my goal/resolution to live a healthier lifestyle including lots of exercise in the coming year …
