So I've been on a pump for a month now … All this time sharing the data from my pump with my trainer from Medtronic … She just share all that info with my doctor a day prior to my visit with him … He was ( SO AM I ) very happy & pleased with the results I was getting using the pump … Using less insulin and my #'s r down and more controlled … He even took me off Metformin … One less med yay … Gonna take a test to c if my pancreas is making insulin , he really thinks I'm not . He thinks I'll be on insulin the rest of my life … I don't mind I just want to know for sure … Feeling happy today !!!!!!! Just thought I'd share !!!!!!!!!! Have a great day friends …

Thanks guys … Was just @ the pharmacy picking up insulin . Talked to a gal I know that works there , her teenage son is type 1 on a pump too … She was ecstatic too , hearing the good news … I guess I didn't quite understand the significance of the #'s 13 point something to what they r pointing to now 7 point something … Apparently that's really good … I hope u all can forgive me talking about this going on and on and all … It's just that in 10 years of being diabetic this seemed to be some of the most positive news that I've gotten in years … Now I just need to exercise regularly and LOOSE weight !!!!!!!!!!!!!!????

Great news! I'm also sold on pumping. I've had my Medtronics pump now for a little over a year and my insulin use is lower than before I started pumping. It took the better part of 3 months before all of the pump settings were right and I still have some issues with higher than desired morning BG's…probably Dawn Phenomenon. It's good that your doc is testing to see if you are producing any insulin (C-peptide test, I think). Mine also tested my vitamin D levels and found that I was low, so I now take a supplement. Vitamin D is important in metabolizing the insulin properly. Sounds like your holidays will be happy ones. Wishing you well!
