I'm eating less bread too but Potbelly has a thin whole sub "skinny". I put turkey and lots of veggies on mine … A compromise, perhaps but I'm off sweets and not craving..once in a while I'll have a small something after a meal but never alone…

I only eat the veggie delight salad with no cheese when I go to Subway. Most of the time I don't even have to take a bolus for the salad. Another good option is at Panda Express: steamed veggies with either the mandrain chicken, mushroom chicken, or another wok smart choice. Low in carbs and calories as well.

Did you know that Subway will take any sub and change it into a salad? I don't know why they keep it a secret or at least don't promote that option more? With a salad, you eliminate all of those bread carbs that cause your BG to rise.

IMHO the best sub is really NOT a sub. I like to eat meat without the bun, with a fork and knife. I had lost 65 lbs by discontinuing eating breads and most grain products.

The bread on subway subs is really a lot of carbs, even with their so called "specialty breads" Check it out by taking a Blood Glucose reading just before eating one of those 6" sandwiches, and compare it to the reading taken 2 hrs after eating it (postprndial). I think you'd be surprised at your BG reading postprandial. Whenever I was out and my GF wanted to go to subway I would eat the salads that they made there. Little to no bread with those.
