I appreciate all the people that have given me such a warm welcome!!!! I have discovered my NEW passion after 23 years. Helping people with diabetes take control over their weight. The frightening news that over 4.6 Milliion people die each year due to Diabetes is scary and I don't want to be a statistic. Do you want to be a statistic????

Being part of this group for just a week has been such a blessing!

So, just this…Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and thank you for allowing me to be part of this great community!!!

I'm with you DC is the most amazing place I read, learn, and vent here, it's the greatest support group I could have found! I am also considering some type of local support group in my area, believe it or not you have to travel over an hour here to find the nearest diabetic educator! I've learned and am constantly learning, but am also trying to teach others!

I agree sset apart!!! I have always loved teaching, had to do it in a retail environment which I think is harder haha…sometimes adults just do not want to learn :) But, I do like helping people, especially those who are having issues with weight loss, and they have confidence problems with themselves and they just need that extra TLC from someone. That is a great idea for a local support group! Good luck with that!! I will be gone for a week. We are going to El Salvador and working on a Mission trip. We are excited to go again. We went in Sept for the first time and LOVED the people there!! So, I will catch up with you guys when I get back. Take care!!!

I know the feeling about helping diabetics! That is my passion as well. While I am not a person with diabetes, my husband is. Diabetes had him for over 20 years - in the last 10 years he has had diabetes right where he wants it — under his control. He eliminated all of the horrible effects of this disease including neuropathy. We have a program that we team teach and it is so rewarding to see the changes in peoples lives. We love to see the "lightbulbs" go off over the heads of our audience as they realize that they actually can control their diabetes, eliminate neuropathy, lose weight and more. My wonderful husband of 52 years is such an inspiration to everyone including me!

Thank you. I feel like I have the vehicle to help people lose weight, and I will share it with everyone I know who asks. Changing lives… thats what it is all about!! My brother lost his lower right leg this past summer due to complications of diabetes…and I don't want anyone to have to deal with that who is overweight and lost hope!!!

Vigirl it is a pleasure meeting you. Unfortunately we are a diabetic statistic but we can do a lot educating and advocating about diabetes. Please have a Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe and warm.

yes, we became one, but we don't have to die one. Granny died at 92 with great eyesight, lungs, kidneys,…her heart just gave out. That is how I want to die with all my parts still here!! LOL
