My son got the CGM that goes with the Medtronic pump. It's still kinda new (less than a month)so I don't have much advice. We have started to see trends and can adjust insulin accordingly. Mostly I like that we can check between finger sticks to see how he's running. No extra blood or strips for piece of min lol. It's definitely great to make sure the insulin pump is working. U can see numbers dropping without rechecking so much

I'm getting the new Dexcom G4 tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. The old Dexcom was next to useless in my opinion in terms of accuracy and general design. The G4 looks like it addressed a lot of those issues. Can't really say about the medtronic offering but I've heard it's not all that great.

I am in week 3 of using a CGM, so I consider myself to still be in the "trial and error" phase. I like the high/low alarm features, the reporting tools (software) and the BG trending that the CGM provides. I've had some issues with a couple of the sensors (bad readings, multiple calibration errors), but overall I think the good information that it provides outweighs the cons. For me, the more information I can get about my numbers, the better.
