Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and I have been reflecting on how different my life is this year compared to last year, and about the many things I am grateful for. Diabetic Connect is high-up on my list. Without a doubt the members are what makes DC such a great place. There are so many ways and times members have impacted my life for good. A community of people who show up to encourage and support one another month after month is a beautiful thing. So thank you to you all. What are you grateful for this year?

One of the big things my family and I are thankful for is that I am a diagnosed diabetic. I've been on the medicine for three months and making myself eat enough carbs. My ability to do things is almost completely back. It is good to not be an ailing woman!

Hi Kate it's been a while, omg it's been a rough ride the last year, but DC has been there for me every step of the way. Reflecting back I think about all that I've shared and learned here, but especially am thankful for the support ive received from others! People here are sincere and really want to help others! The day I found DC was a great day! I am thankful for so much God has been good, although the ride has been bumpy he caught me when I was almost falling. Family, friends, my latest dr. Appt. It's good to be alive! Happy Thanksgiving Kate to you and yours!

Hi JKate !!! Oh I am grateful to God that my husband came home from the hospital after two days of going back and forth to the hospital and finally being admitted for observation from a a very rare adverse reaction to a new medications. So instead of planning a funeral we cut up a big turkey yesterday evening and put it on the grill!!!

I am happy to have met in conversation with DC family!!!

I could keep going on about so many things that I am truly Grateful for but the Utmost is LIFE and Love!!!l

I'm sorry to hear you've had so much to deal with the last few days, but glad it has turned out well. Hope the turkey turns out well. I've never tried the grill for a turkey. Is it good?

Life, a good husband and friends to share my life with. This has been a year of swings and though all of those things, the above mentioned are what have pulled me through it all. I have so much appreciation for all of my DC friends here who share their lives with me. You all make me smile because I know you care.

stroke network also asked what everyone was thankful for…i said those that have been with me on my recovery journey which sadly has been my wife and our friends because our families could care less…i am also thankful for the affordable care act - without it i'd never be insured again :(

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This year has difinitly had its up and downs! I think the most thing that I am greatful for is my family. Everyone has been so wonderful this year. I am blessed with a grand daughter, that is so active and growing everyday. I am thankful the God allowed us to stay in our apt. in stead of moving. He sure answered prayer on that one! I am thankful for my church and our church family. Very loving people there. I am thankful that my husband can work and has full time employment. How God blesses us everyday!

Hi there and Happy Thanksgiving! I really have so much to be thankful for…an amazing and very supportive husband, a good job, our " kids": Jack our dog and Reggie, Homer, and Lilly out cats. But above all I am thankful to be alive. To wake up every morning and NOT take life for granted. I enjoy and am grateful for every single minute of every day. :)

I think that is a recipe for success- if we all woke up and didn't take life for granted, it would be an amazing world. Thanks for sharing.

I never take life for granted. You have to do the best that you can for yourself and at the same time help those in need. You have to be thankful for what you have and cherish loved ones and friends. Material things come and go. Family and true friends are there with you through good and bad times.

I am thankful that I am alive and kicking. Diabetes is just a minor problem that I handle everyday. I have a friend who is on his second bout with cancer. I have another friend who was in remission and now both him and his wife are fighting cancer but doing great. Our family has grieved for family members we have lost this year and celebrated the birth of our newest family members. Most importantly I am thankful for my friends here on DC and my family and friends in the real world. We have to give love to get love. It is important to be thankful for what you have and not worry about what you don't have because when you give back, what you need may come to you. Happy Thanksgiving

sorry about those friends. I have two friends with cancer, one colon cancer but they say she is going to be okay, and the other with myeloma, she is my age, it is kind of scary when you have two friends your age, in their 40s with cancer. I wish no one had to go through cancer or anything like that at all. I love your positive outlook Joyce, that is how I have been too about this darn diabetes.
