As you contemplate your life and deal with your health issues, keep in mind how fortunate we are to have all the information and support that is available to us through the medical profession, books, the Internet, etc. Medical technology has come a long way, and the hope that we have now, and the tools we have at our fingetips, are things for which we should really be thankful, and I know we all are. Just remember to take action of some kind when dealing with your health problems. If you don't take charge and seek out help and information, you're losing out. In this day and age there are so many amazing things going on that give us renewed hope. Let's keep that in mind and continue to remind others too. Diane

I very much agree with you, LadyDi. We are blessed with many things that make dealing with diabetes so much easier. I also am very encouraged by the news I've read this year about greater and greater scientific understanding of this disease and the possibilities that are opening up for a cure.

Exciting stuff, huh?! I've found that my doctors seem to appreciate my inquisitiveness and my interest in learning and helping myself. I think it makes us much more able to take part in our treatment. I want to know "why" about everything, to which my doctors will attest. But I do my own research so I can discuss things intelligently and understand what they say to me. We are indeed very fortunate to have so much at our disposal. Thanks for your comment.

I really appreciate this web site and all the people who contribute. It has helped me in so many ways. I now have easy access to information that I did not have before. Alot of times, I would have questions to ask my dr, but by the time my appointment came around, I would have forgotten what I had wanted to ask. Now, I have info close at hand to remind me of what I wanted to ask, and can get some answers right away. That does not mean I will not still ask my dr, but at least with checking on this site every day, I will be able to remember my questions!!! Thanks to all.

Gathering info on the Internet helps you to know what to ask your doctor. It arms you with info you might not otherwise have had, therefore questions arise that you might not otherwise have had. The best thing is always to discuss/confirm info you find that you feel might apply to you. We're all very different, and our situations are very differnt. Also, the info we find might not always be the most current or the most accurate. The Internet is an amazing tool!

Hello Lady Di. I agree with you 100%!!! I was diagnosed in 1945 so I was without modern day technology and knowledge for a very long time. I am very lucky to be alive and healthy. I appreciate finally knowing how to properly take care of myself. I am 69 and I can actually hope to live to a ripe old age. I wish the same for you. Good luck!

Richard
