When I found this site a few monthes back, It just seemed to have so much to offer me.There were good discussions about diabetes, DepressionAnd many other ailments, caused by Diabetes, or closley related to diabetes. Now I find articles and discussions of People fighting over statements made, fact or fiction, People claiming that others are abusing the site to earn more points, topics that although well meaning, are giving no information to looking at this site for infomation on how to deal with diabetes ! or 2, why can't we get back to the basics of doing discussions written from the heart, that will offer someone with a thirst for learning how to live with diabetes, and all the other things affecting our lives, this is just my opinion but I feel it needed to be said.

While I have posted on many of the non diabetic posts, I have decided I will no longer do that. They are getting ridiculous and too much drama. I am tired of having to apologize for stating my opinions. I am me, I feel a certain way and if someone does not like it, I no longer care. Lets get back to diabetes issues and problems we may have with sugars, food, tests, etc. Not shopping.

My suggestions would be that we have a section for personal stuff. Lately most of the topics I have been reading all deal with emotions. and very petty things like high school drama stuff was ridiculous. I too would like to get back to the basics. Diabetes related information. While I have posted in these personal discussions it has made no real contrubution to the diabetes community. And the points thing I do not understand, if you compete about this then that is very swallow and you are not here for the real reason of contributing to help fellow diabetics or caregiver. And the things about leaving or staying or going to or I might is getting old too. If you want to stay, STAY. If you want to go, GO. Do not make a big deal about it. Do not post for days about it. I am sorry if this post has offended anyone but I am tired of having to say that also. If you do not like what I post then say so. Do not talk about it with anonymous post. Be man or woman about it and state your name. Hiding behind an anonymous name means you feel quilty about your comments. Lets just get back to the diabetes and not so much drama. I would hate to think that all the new people think that is what this site is only about.

I agree with most of what you say. However, I think posting something anonymously is sometimes just the kindest thing to do, not a way to hide. Doing otherwise just invites more person-to-person squabbles, I feel, which is just inappropriate on a site such as this. Everyone's personal choice, of course. Just my 2 cents worth.

I mainly said that because alot of what has been said lately, they are hiding behind their anonymous status instead of showing who they are. If you disagree with me I would like to know who you are so I can know who it is and us resolve our issues. or I can avoid them in the future. Just my thoughts. But back to basics is all I would like to do. No squabbles, no nonsense, definitely no drama.

A couple of days ago I posted Getting back on Track, I agree whole heartedly; we need to get back to the importance of this site and why we are all here. It is alright to have one or two fun discussions to relieve daily stress, but lately they have taken over the site. luv:->)lilmarm

I've just been on here a couple of weeks or so, but it soon became apparent that there are folks on here who either misunderstand what a site such as this is meant to be, or they're just (sadly) desperate for attention and/or something to do. There really is a lot of good information and sharing among many on here. To benefit those seeking help, we need to be sure we keep it concise and informative. You are so right - some of the discussions are just silly and pointless. As for earning points…that never occurred to me until I saw it mentioned somewhere. What in the world for? It's not a competition. You aren't going to win a washer or a dryer (LOL). I appreciate your comments and your suggestion that we get back to the basics. We also need to support and uplift each other (such as Leigh who is dealing with so much right now). Whining, moaning and complaining do none of us any good. Share your problems and concerns, of course, but we all need to think about what we offer each other here.

Yes, I agree. I think the Thanksgiving Menu discussion this week is a great example of the value this site can bring to people. I'm sure there were many who benefitted as a direct result of that one discussion.

Thanks to all those who add so much to making this a great resource.

Next Discussion: Thanksgiving. »
