Hi Anonymous,

I don't have much experience with the nerve damage you are mentioning, but I did come across and article that may lead you in the right direction. The article talks about a new feature of HealthTap, and HealthTap is a website that allows users to ask health-related questions to a network of doctors and get answers
publicly or privately.

I hope this is helpful.

Here is a link to the article:

Howdy Annon

There are those who claim to have beaten neuropathy. There are those who say it cannot be fixed, no matter what.

I have the burning neuropathy from knees to toes and tingling Neuropathy from elbows to fingertips. The tingling in my arms while irritating and causes me to be clumsy with my typing, is tolerable. But my feet burn like fire with every step I take and it is wearing on me. Simply walking around a store simply wears me out.

I do however believe that something will ease the burning pain I feel. I just gotta find what works for me. I have tried some things and I saw some little promise with some supplements but it seemed to ease the burning only a little,

I remain hopeful however. If I find something which works for me I plan to let everyone know here on DC.

My best advice is to keep your Blood Glucose (BG) levels as close to normal and even (no major swings) as you can. Then you won't do more damage to your nerves and hopefully will come back quicker to feeling normal.

Praying God's richest blessinggs upon you and yours

Please dont do that. Why do you want to give up? Life is too good to pass up. Thats not the way you want to go. Do you have friends or loved ones you can talk too? You are here for a reason, dont count yourself out just yet. Think of all the wisdom that will be lost. I read a post from a young one who is new to this and needs wisdom to go forward. Share your experiences with her. Dont quit, we weren't made for that. Shes so lost and doesnt know how to go on. What will we tell her, what can you tell her? To quit? Get back to what worked for you before, get back your health, no feet, who needs them. We need you.

Im sorry, i dont understand what there is to be embarrassed about. There are millions of ppl with this illness. If we all hid from it we would never get any help. Why would you deny your friends to help you, to pray for you, to cry with you? Friends and family should mean more then that. Are you saying that if a friend of yours became ill you wouldnt be there to help? I cant imagine being without my family and friends, they came to the hospital, they prayed with me, and some even cried with me. They have been my comfort and my rock. My husband works hard and isnt always around. I recieved meals for a month when i came home from the hospital, my children would not have eaten if they didnt help us out. You are too alone, you need to understand why you are so determined to do this alone, and reach out. What would happen if people knew? When your feet fail how will you get around without someones help. Please look at your fear in the face and conquer it. No one should be alone. Im sure you are loved and ppl would be very hurt if you hastened your demise if not mad at you for keeping them away. Please rethink this.

I take prescription Neurontin /generic name is gabapentin 300mg. It works better than Lyrica for me. There is over the counter creams to put on feet that r suppose to work for the neuropathy. Talk to your dr or nurse ( my dr office has a diabetic nurse it helps to talk to ).

My understanding is neuropathy is permanent and it cant be reverses. My son has it and hes not a diabetic, just a healthy young man with a family. So please be careful and watch your bs. See if it can be stopped from progressing

Ahhh, there in lies the trouble. While neuropathy is questionable as to if it is reversible, it can be made to feel much better with lower more controlled levels. I know when my numbers are out of control, my feet tell me first. You first line of effort should be getting numbers in a better place. It really does help.

I take Alpha Lipoic Acid to help and mine no longer burn. They still feel weird, like stuffed sausages some mornings, but the ALA helps. I take 600mg a day. If it is still just in your feet, then work to keep it there and not allow it to spread up your legs or start getting into your hands and eyes.

There are some medications other members have said help greatly such as Lyrica. It is a nerve medicine, so it helps calm the confused nerves in your feet.
